Atta Mills Dies at 68...David Cameron Pays Tribute

According to a presidential statement, Ghana's President John Atta Mills, died unexpectedly. An aide said his death occurred on Tuesday after he took ill on Monday night.

British Prime Minister, David Cameron, earlier today, said he was deeply saddened to hear about the death of Ghanaian president John Atta Mills at the age of 68.

Mills, who ran three times for president before being elected in the closest vote in Ghana's history on a platform vowing to reform the west African country, died this afternoon at the 37th Military Hospital in Accra.

He was due to stand for re-election in a few months. Mills, who oversaw the start of oil production in Ghana, returned from medical checks in the United States several weeks ago.
