Man, 32 butchers uncle, 78 in Ebonyi for allegedly manipulating his destiny

According to citizensplatform.net, a 32-year old man, one Chinweoru Ugbo, was at the weekend arrested by the Onueke Divisional Police Command, Ebonyi State for reportedly butchering his 78-year old uncle, Mr. Ogbuleji Nwite, with an axe in Nsokkara Community in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state.

Reports say the suspect committed murder over claims that the deceased was diabolically manipulating his destiny.

The suspect, a trader residing in Owerri, the Imo State capital, was said to have returned home on Friday night and then lured his victim the next day to a lonely farmland near a neighboring community in Amagu, under the guise of showing him (the victim) a piece of land he wanted to purchase.

There, he reportedly inflicted 27 cuts on late Mr. Nwite in the early hours of Saturday, unaware that some people saw him.

He was however caught by the villagers at Igweledoha Nsokkara community, when he was packing his luggage to flee the community.

According to an eyewitness, the crime took place in a vegetable farmland.

The witness said: “I was on top of a palm tree harvesting fruits and saw both of them conversing. I never suspected anything because they were relatives.

“But I felt cold to the spine when the boy started brutalizing the old man, who recently returned from the hospital after an eye surgery.”
