042CityCam Session 2: Contestant Entry Analysis

Winners, #042CityCam Session 1
It has been an interesting 2nd session of 042 City Cam...several people obviously put their act together after the 1st session and the competition for the 2nd Session is stiff.
The Theme and challenge was:
"It is said that Love makes the world go round...do you agree? Take an original picture that depicts the expression of pure love that connects people and makes the world go round."

I am most impressed by the various expressions of 'Love' that you all have put out...the season of 'Love' is upon us and it feels good to know that we all still see 'Love' in a lot of little things.

That being said, I think I should remind you of the set rules

1. Picture must be submitted before 30th November 2013
2. Picture must be original and taken by the contestant within the next 10 days
3. Picture must be meaningful
4. The 'likes' should be authentic and verifiable
5. No sexual content is allowed
6. Contestants must be available in Enugu at least by the first week in December.

I need to make it clear that there was NEVER a need for you to EXPLAIN your picture or write anything about how your picture shows love....all you were required to do was to take a picture that depicts the expression of pure love that connects people and makes the world go round. To this end, I will disregard the words (even the beautifully written ones) that most contestants attached to their entries.

Let us now check out all the entries...most pictures will be analysed based on the meaningfulness and the 'first-thought depiction of love' (by 'first-thought depiction of love', I mean whether or not the picture makes you think of love that connects people at first sight). see the pics and analysis after the cut.

1
In this picture, I see a bunch of friends who are out to have fun and who may or may not love themselves but they certainly love the fun trip they are about to go on. (The lone girl at the right corner takes away from the 'jolly' look of the picture though).
I think that if this picture was to depict 'fun', it would be a perfect 10.

2
Notice how Entry 1 and 2 are by the same contestant? I guess she wasn't satisfied with the first picture she put up.
Even though I will take the time to analyse this picture, I must say at this point that Juliet Uba is disqualified. It goes without saying that multiple submissions are not allowed.

To the picture: The guy is kneeling and seems to be begging for forgiveness but his posture isn't convincing. The girl's countenance in the picture also looks like she isn't about to forgive the poor dude.

My question is, "Where is the Love"?

3
In Christianity, Christ's Crucifixion is seen as the sacrifice that is the ultimate show of GOD's love for mankind.

Does it make you think of love that connects people and makes the world go round? For me, the answer is no, because that love should be from one human to another.

4

All I see in this pictures is 6 individuals who posed for a photo.

Chances are that they have some sort of love for themselves...perhaps they are friends, brothers or something...but it is not the first impression you get when you look at this photo.
Also, it does seem like the contestant is in the picture so this photograph was certainly not taken by him.

5

I like this picture. It reminds me of a girl who decides to welcome someone who just arrived from the village by helping to carry the person's load.

Seems like a loving gesture but it looks rather staged...

6
Two boys, wearing native, eating from a plate. That's all I see.
You do not have to love someone to eat from their plate...you just have to be hungry (or a long throat person) and once the person asks you to join in the meal, you will say yes.

7
3 youth coup members posing for the photo...one in uniform and two in traditional attire. When I thought deeper about the picture, the words that came to me where 'blessed is he among women' because I saw a young fella who is trying not to show his excitement at being sandwiched between two women.
He may go on to love one of these females (or both *eye roll*) but this picture is closer to depicting 'National unity' than it is to depicting 'love that connects people and makes the world go round'.

8
Is this a man, his wife and son? Is this a guy, his girlfriend and her younger brother? Is this two brothers and their sister?
It looks like a serene picture and they trully look happy...When I look at it, I feel like these 3 people will always be there for each other....well, the big guy will always be there for the girl and the girl will always be there for the little boys... and in my opinion, that is a strong connection.
However, Nnamani Emeka Henry is the one in the picture and he is also the contestant, that means, this picture was NOT taken by him. The chance that it was taken by a camera on auto-capture is also pretty slim because of the angle of the picture.

9
Ideally, 2 people would not wed unless there exists, an unending love between them. That love connects them...emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically...and leads them to have offspring.
That is the cycle of life, that makes the world go round.
I think that a wedding picture, as cliché as it is, depicts love and even though several facets of my mind are asking questions like "what if they were forced to marry" "what if they divorce" bla bla bla...I still believe that the decision to marry a person is deeply rooted in the love that connects people and makes the world go round.

10
Again, another 6 individuals who posed for the photo. Friends, siblings....I don't know but thes picture speaks more of 'fun-times' than the theme statement.

11
This is one large family and I am not able to tell if it is one generation or two...mmmm.
Families are meant to love each other so we can assume that all the people in this picture have got real love for each other but the truth is, looking at this picture makes me think of the word "Throwback" rather than the word "Love"
12
In this age of distraction and in our dear country, it has become a rare to see a child from a less-than-average background express this much compassion to another child, especially one who is much smaller and who may be getting more attention.
The look on the face of the boy kissing who I assume to be his younger sister, is full of compassion and love. If more kids could show this much compassion and grow up with it, the world would go round and be a better place.

13
After the love of God, it is said that the love of a mother to a child is the greatest. This picture shows that. She is not only breastfeeding her child, she is doing it with a wide loving smile which the child can see. That smile will become the foundation upon which this child will relate with his/her mother. That smile will be the memory they would both share that will keep them connected.
However, the submitted photograph looks like it is the picture of a picture and that puts a question on its originality.

14
I think these 3 ladies must have really enjoyed having lunch together and whatever eatery that is. Seeing as it is possible to have a fun meal with total strangers and even a person that you do not give a damn about, I do not see anything in this picture that depicts love.
Like in entery number 6, you do not need to love a person to share a meal, you just have to be hungry.
I can not say if the conestant is in the photograph but it does seem like she is. If that is the case, then this picture was NOT taken by her.

15
"Love that connects people and makes he world go round"....that was the theme statement for the 2nd session.
In as much as I believe that Love for God is key, I also believe that Love for our humans is the first expressed manifestation of that love. This picture is something I would tag 'prayer' or 'spiritual moment' and not 'love'

16
This family looks happy. There has to have some love between the man and woman which made them wed and that love must have gotten even deeper when they bore a son. The way they hold hands makes me feel like these two people hold on to each other and can do anything for each other. Transferring this kind of love to their son could lead to a whole lineage of people who love purely and who are connected beyond our imagination.
Osinachi Uba however, did not take the time to remove the photography tag at the bottom left corner before submitting this picture and so it obviously does not meet the criterion of originality.

17
This picture makes me think of the words "goofing around". These two are probably dating and love themselves or are good friends and love themselves but this picture looks like it was staged (and badly so). It looks for goofy than 'lovey'

18
Hustle...rush hour....traffic.... those are the words that come to mind when I look at this picture. Love is very far from it.

19
The love of God manifested in the death of Jesus Christ on the cross..."for God so loved the world that he gave his only son..."
Like in entry number 2, the love that connects people (as the theme statement said), should be between people.

20
I love cake and even though I am tempted to let my love for cake see 'Love' written all over this photograph, the truth is that all I see is Cake...Cake that looks good to eat (and that would propably make me add a few extra pounds around my waist).

  3. my picture is originally taken by me in Shoprite, the one at polo park, now your theme and challenge was:
"It is said that Love makes the world go round...do you agree?
Take an original picture that depicts the expression of pure love that connects people and makes the world go round"

Everyone have different opinions about a particular thing. for you to say that it must be an original picture that depicts the expression of pure love that connects people, my understanding is that the winning picture should have more than one person in it, and there must be a connection to reckon with when you look at the picture.

I took my room mates out that day after claiming some goodies in bush bar, Nza Street.. they are not strangers, they are my room mates in UNN, we drove all the way from Nsukka to take that picture.. i have other pics taken on the same day and they are still inside my camera, they were really happy cos it was a surprise outing... to me making people happy is a very perfect way to depict love, what is love without hapiness???

  7. The theme statement says "Love that connects PEOPLE and makes the world go round".
The love you should capture should connect people...humans. it is clearly stated in the theme statement, you just needed to have paid attention to detail.

  8. Nnamani Emeka HenryMonday, December 02, 2013

My picture was snapped in Ngwo Forest ''a place known for Love and i call the place Love garden''

In this world we are in,it's the way you train a child that he will grow.
The child in my picture depict that he will show love to other children when he grows.

    Let me not talk much.

This contest is superb and highly unique. I must commend the sponsors and organiser for bringing out such exciting contest because i believe we all learnt one or two things here.

  9. Tobe Dadiva, the picture depicts true love because in this end time world of ours, how many people have you seen devote their time to go and worship the lord.It connects people because people of different tribes come under one umbrella and that is the LOVE FOR GOD.i took the photo, tagged my frnds and even have to beg and beg before they can like the photo.Anyway you have the final say,let me wait for it.If i lose out,God knws that i did my best.

  10. Menn!so finally after all the tagging, the begging, the burning of mb adding people so that i can get likes,This is what i get.i still cant sleep,my whole being is shattered.Aunty Tobe, this is entirely unfair, how can you dub my photo 'spiritual moment' when in the actual sense,it is the love for christ that makes humans come together to worship him and in doing that, everybody is happy and the LOVE there spreads from the church premises to the various households, frm there to different places.LOVE is infectious, when someone shows you love,it spreads all over you and you in turn pass it to another human.Gud 9t

  12. The Theme and challenge was:
"It is said that Love makes the world go round.

Anybody whose picture depict that love goes round is qualified to win this contest once her or his picture captured love.

I have been reading the whole debate here and my conclusion is that Admin your making us the fan to live in fear with your picture analysis.

This contest is about love let's not end love with causing chaos or problem. Love is the greatest hence love contest should be lovely and better than others.
    Thanks

  13. Even though it's love some contestants did not show interest, they just posted and left just like that while some work hard by getting 200 likes and above.
Even in other pages once you get above 200votes it shows your interest.

Can you be working in Railway and be receiving salary at radio Fm that's 100% impossible in real life.
    That's my observation.
