Behind the Spectacles: Be Strong

When your name/personality is constantly described as 'Strong', it is easy for you to try to go the extra mile to be 'strong'. With all the messages of positivity and strength flying all around the internet (like it's the new cool), it is starting to seem like any person who can't buck it up and move on is a failure. You try so hard to be strong...you hold up your head and square your shoulders so that everyone sees you being 'strong'...you make a lot of effort to keep your name being synonymous with the word 'strong'.

In all that strength, you hide the battles inside; you silently struggle with repressed pain and hold back tears and bite your lips hard so that you don't let out even the slightest sob. Even when your world is falling apart and you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and you really want to do is throw off some of the weight and be held in a warm embrace, you hold your head up and make everyone see that you are strong.

But you see, real strength comes with knowing that it is ok to not have it all figured out...it is ok to cry...it is ok to make mistakes. Real strength comes from knowing it is ok to ask for help...it is ok to ask to pampered and held...it is ok to not be so strong for a while
