Tips to help you get through the heat
As the days go buy, the temperature in Nigeria fluctuates between 35 degrees and 45 degrees. As if that isn't enough, PHCN isn't being very friendly in most parts of the nation (Unfortunately, most people can't afford to run a generator all day long).
With this kind of heat comes various health problems, like heat stroke, sun burn, heat rashes, stroke, meningitis and many more. Every weekday, on air, as part of the weather check for the day, I ask my listeners to be good to their skin and their health. So, it's time I told my darling blog viewers, the exact same thing.
So, here are a few tips I came up with, that will help you get through this really hot period as we await the rains (People in Lagos, please do not ignore the government's warning of over 200 days of heavy rain fall. Make plans that can help you. I'll come up with a few tips for you soon.)
So, to get through this annoying heat that is humid in some places and dry in others, here are DaDiva's few tip:
1. Have as many baths as you can afford, but most importantly, one in the morning and one at night, just before you go to bed. Bath with cold water and let the water dry on your body (especially at night) instead of towelling dry.
2. Practice hydro-therapy. Drink water first thing in the morning. Not too cold (so yo don't suffer early morning brain freeze) but cool enough to 'chill you out'.
3. Avoid carbonated drinks, alcohol and liquids that contain caffeine. Consume more water.
4. Drink lots of water during the day. Yes, you will make more trips to the toilet and maybe sweat more, but it's a far healthier alternative.
5. If you need a little boost to start your day and that boost is usually coffee, try an Apple. Apples give as much energy boost as several cups of coffee and unlike coffee, helps your teeth and immune system.
6. Use protective things like umbrellas, sun glasses, face caps and sun screen lotion.
7. Ladies, cut down on oil based make-up. If you can afford to change product, go ahead. Use more oil control powder/products.
8. Go to bed with light clothing, preferably made of cotton material (if you can, sleeping almost naked may be helpful).
9. If you can afford to, spend more time indoors and avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
10. When you sleep, try to relax and sleep properly. Your body needs the rest.
Tnx Diva, ama try dis. Fabulous Joe frm abj...
