The Kardashian Clan Obsession!

This is NOT a Shade.

However, I am certain I am not the only one that has noticed this. For the past few months, on Linda's Blog, there is a daily post about a member of the Kardashian Clan - Kim, Kylie, Kendell, Khloe, Kourtney, Kris - or one of their add-ons, Scott and Bruce/Caitlyn.

I can imagine that she is amused by the sheer pump and pageantry of their lives and I can also imagine that posts do something for her blog numbers but I can't help but agree with one of her regular comment droppers and say "who dem help?" If you doubt me, go on the blog and see for yourself...some days, it is up to 3 posts. Even some of the comments on the posts attest to the fact.

I was asked by a friend a while back, why I hadn't put up any thoughts on Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner and the truth is that I am yet to wrap my head around it. Not that I can't wrap my head around a man becoming a woman....no, Bruce is not the first. Maybe he is the first man, his age who has transitioned but even that is not impossible to comprehend.

What I can't wrap my head around is why the world cares so much. Why are we paying so much attention to one man who has made a personal decision to do something as ridiculous and selfish as a sex transition at a time when he has so many family ties to consider live his "own authentic life"?

Ultimately, I would say it is the Kardashian Clan Obsession. I blame the E! channel for making it such a big deal in the United States and I honestly give Linda Ikeji and back handed round of applause for making Nigerians care enough about the situation that we talk about it online, on radio, at parties or while just sitting around, having a few beers.

Imagine a world where we didn't make news of the fact that Kylie Jenner wore a see through bra or Kendell took a walk without wearing a bra or Khloe wore see through leggings to go to the gym or Kim wore a halter neck dress that showed her curves....I mean, these are things people do on a regular day and it's not news.

I think that the K-Clan obsession of a lot of online outlets (including those that make a point to diss them daily) is steadily growing a population of young-lings who are more narcissistic than they ought to have been and who will strive for relevance without acquiring or growing any skill set.

As long as we make a big deal out of a hot pose for a photo, a new hair style, the colour and cut of a bra, a person's instagram posts bla bla bla, we will continue to fuel the intellectual vacuum that the coming generations will be characterised with.
