Hello 2016...no resolutions here.
Happy New Year!
Yes, Yes...I am very late I know...but hey, better late than sorry right?
A few weeks ago, on twitter, I said something about how I didn't have any resolutions for 2016 and a few people decided to tell me how wrong I was. I found it interesting.
Why do we make resolutions? To give you a clear cut goal for the year? To make you feel like the year is going to be a "New Beginning"? To help you join in the myriad of social media posts that talk about resolutions and use the hashtags #NewBeginning #NewYearNewMe #NewYearGoals blah blah?
I grew up having to write a list of resolutions on the 31st of December for the new year. By my birthday, I usually had no idea where the sheet of paper or note book was (notice how I plugged in a reminder about my birthday in there? I'm good like that *tongue out* lol. By the way, it's on the 19th). So this year, I decided not to pressure myself (or waste money on Gym membership or on buying a new study bible or anything like that) and just not make any resolutions. This year I won't wake up every morning beating myself up or making excuses for not sticking to a diet plan or devotional plan neither will I beat myself up when I go back to any old vices.
I will wake up each day and smile and take each minute of the day as it comes as I already know where my graces come from.
It's a life time effort to be a better person...I am done trying too hard to achieve that in a year.
It's a life time effort to be a better person...I am done trying too hard to achieve that in a year. wow, i love that statement. i've never written anything down in the name of new year resolution. i just decide and try my best to keep to it. i always wonder whether new year resolutions expire at the end of every year..
ReplyDeletea wise man once said to me '...d main idea of a plan, is to know how far you deviate'. without one, you may find urself in mars cos u had no intention of well...being anywhere! me thinks new year resolutions help chart ur course for the year so u have a fall-back-on base by the next year when u 'take stock'...cos we all remember the resolutions we made dis time last year!!!
