To Masturbate or Not: that is the question
Masturbation is a very interesting topic of debate. From religious to moral stand points, behavioral to personality research, sexual to health discussions, there are always strong opposing views on masturbation, and most times, everyone has a good, solid point.· Masturbation makes it hard for you to enjoy sex with a partner VS masturbation helps you discover your body and what you like, so your partner can please you better.
· Masturbation will lead you to hell VS the bible doesn’t mention masturbation
· Masturbation leaves you feeling dirty and guilty VS masturbation gives you a burst of energy to take on the day
The subject of masturbation is either under touched or over flogged but for most people, it doesn’t get ‘thought through’. We just either do it or don’t do it but we never really take a moment to think about making the decision to or not. So let’s think, because of these 5 reasons
i. If you’ve ever had an orgasm (it is ok to admit that you’ve never had one honey, you won’t be alone in that team), how did it make you feel? Chances are that the way you feel after a partner-induced orgasm is the same way you will feel after a self-induced one, except, amplified. This is because your mind and body is doing all the work to get you there and there isn’t anyone to share the activity load with you. Think about it. Honestly. Guilt will be amplified; satisfaction will be amplified; energy drains or bursts will be amplified. Think.
ii. What does your body respond to? A friend complained to me about not being able to get there without a toy when she masturbated. She considered it way too much work and didn’t understand why a few people swore that self-induced orgasms were king. Our bodies are different. Some people require more stimulation than others and some require a specific type of stimulation. Not all bodies will respond to all or any form of masturbation. Think about it. Honestly. If your body isn’t responsive and you spend time trying to work it up, you will end up being exhausted and frustrated. If your body is responsive and you don’t, you could find yourself having surprise orgasms just from having a shower. Think.
iii. What are your health risks and how far can you go? For men, there are medical discussions that say regular ejaculations reduce your risk of Prostate Cancer. Masturbation could ensure you have these ejaculations. With women, the benefits are less scientific and more psychological and emotional. But then again, I recently read of the woman who had to have surgery to take out a dildo that got ‘lost’ in her vulva. So, think about it. Honestly. What sorts of conditions might you be more susceptible to and how does masturbating or not, affect that? Think.
PS:
I found this piece on quora.com and thought to share. It’s by a 20 something year old male, who experimented on himself and shared his findings. It’s a guy’s perspective, but ladies, this might help you understand a few things, the next time you and bae get in the sheets and you find him to be a different kind of beast ;)
